Spend the Day with Me

Hey—why don’t you spend the day with me? I'm thrilled to have you along for this journey today where the ordinary will become extraordinary--just by sharing it with you.
Good morning!
I'm excited as we start this day together. It's still dark, and my eyes are barely open, but let's meet in the kitchen for coffee in a few minutes.
Welcome to "60 Something." I'm Grace, and I'm so glad you're here.
As I walk down the hall to get the coffee, I can't help but record a little moment with my baby Dorothy. (Not an actual infant—a 5-year-old Golden Retriever.) Isn't she just beautiful? She starts my day on such a positive note.
Making Coffee
Time to make some coffee. I'm still waking up and don't have much to offer yet, but I'll be better once I get this caffeine in my system. Let's get the coffee into the filter and get it brewing. I like my coffee strong, just like my men. Now, while that brews, I'll get some ice water—got to have my water, even with coffee.
A Quick Chat and Brew
Dorothy comes in wanting her bone. She has a routine of her own and she tells me when it's time for her treat. After the bone is given, and the coffee is ready, I sit down with my ice water to read the news for about 10 minutes.
Connecting with Family
As I'm about to dive into my devotional, my son Brad calls. It's an interruption, but a welcome one. Brad and I chat about his day and his fun little blender he plans to take to work. I love these moments—they're what life's all about.
Brad lives in New Orleans, and we often use this device called a portal to stay in touch. Sometimes, I call him; sometimes, he calls me. It's like we live across the street from each other.
Morning Routine Continues
Back to the morning routine. I plan my day using my passion planner sheets and morning routine binders. Although it’s summer and I’m practicing my routine, I aim to go full steam ahead once school starts.
After planning, I'll meet you in the Peloton room for a workout. I put on my headband, clip up my hair, grab some Chapstick, and head to the gym. I like to watch shows or listen to upbeat music while exercising to keep me motivated.
Skincare for Mom and Pup
Post-workout, it's time for my skincare routine. I use Kiehl's products, thanks to my daughter’s thoughtful birthday gift. It was a game-changer for my skin, and I am grateful for it.
Dorothy has her routine too. She had a skin infection, and we still apply ointment to help with her healing. She's such a trooper and has been with me through some tough times, providing me with unconditional love.
Unexpected Visitor
Just as I am about to get dressed, I hear someone coming home. It’s our favorite TV and movie reviewer, Erin Siegel. We exchange warm greetings and settle in. My usual routine includes working on my podcast or another project like digitizing old audio tapes from when my kids were young.
Afternoon Adventures
I switch to working on my true crime hobby project—a crime board. It keeps my mind engaged and is a lot of fun.
Later, I head out with my husband Aaron, who needs me while he undergoes oral surgery. Afterward, it’s off to the park with Dorothy for a walk.
Dining Alone and Reflecting
Tonight, I’m dining alone. Aaron’s on a liquid diet because of his surgery, but I savor some leftovers and cherries. I wind down with my gratitude practice. I have this beautiful jar where I write down something I’m grateful for each day.
Tonight, I’m grateful for you, my listeners, and friends. You've become more than just an audience to me. I cherish this connection deeply.
Final Thoughts
As the day ends, I prepare for sleep, saying goodnight to Dorothy and enjoying my nightcap—a pina colada. The day may have been simple, but it's filled with love, faith, and gratitude.
Thank you for spending this day with me. I love trying new things, and your support means the world to me. Stay tuned for next week’s finale, where I’ll share a retrospective update on this season and plans for the next.
Here's to more beautiful days together.
Conclusion
I've learned that happiness isn't anchored to any single thing but rather to an attitude of gratitude. Thank you for being a part of my day and my journey. I look forward to sharing more with you.
With love,
Grace
